i recently started revisiting my kinky curly products. The Kinky Curly line were the first products I used when I first began my natural hair journey, and I truly feel like these products aren’t going anywhere ANY time soon. I love the gel so much, For seven years I’ve tried and failed to find a product to compare to the curling custard. There’s literally NOTHING like this stuff out there! It does leave my hair a little crunchy on the first day but I’ve notice through my second and third and fourth and even fifth day hair, my tresses remain soft and defined! The only other gel out there that would actually leave me with such long lasting definition would be this el cheapo gel from wal-mart and let me tell you, that stuff would literally be eating my hair apart!
Although in the beginning of my journey I did love the knot today conditioner, but I found that with my Darcy’s Botanicals Pumpkin seed conditioner my hair feels alot softer and more pliable on the first day, I find when I use the knot today with the curling custard it leaves a harder hold which i thought was so weird! And can I just say that this conditioner was the hardest thing to find, which was also strange to me, because I thought since these products are relatively main stream, they would be every where. I had to call three stores, and finally go to a target all the way downtown to find it! And honestly I really didn’t need to go through all that trouble. I really prefer my Darcy’s as a leave in and I’ll probably end up using the two bottles i bought for a deep conditioner. Ehh well…
I am sooo sorry that i havent updated my pics in literally like a year! So srry! I feel like I should probably update you guys on everything hair related!
1. I have now grown to full Bra Strap length. And I’m slowly but surely reaching my way my way to Mid-Back length which is really exciting considering that I’m about to pass my first intial hair goal :D!
2.The red in my hair that I had dyed in feburary has faded to a brownish color on the right side of my hair. I’m actually thinking about re-dying just that section of my hair into the orange-red that I had been trying to get.
3. I had lost interest in doing the GHE method since summer started last year but since winter is here and kicking, I’ve started up again. Though I’m not as militant with using as I was last year.
4.My curls seemed to have changed over night. The overall texture is alot tighter than before, even the front section (which is the loosest) have turned from a 3A to a 3B texture which is nuts! I kind of account this for my hair getting longer, and instead of getting looser, it ended up tightening up.
I think thats everything really, of course I changed my conditioners around, try a coulple of new things etc…etc..
But! All that will come with addition blog post. Hopefully I can keep you as up to date with my hair journey as possible!
So! I’ve been getting really into braidouts and how awesome it is to get major volume and length without really having to put any heat on my head. Its definately become a spring/summer staple. I’ve also joined a new challenge where I were a plastic cap on my head everynight until July 1st to keep in the moisture and shine. So far so good, I really like what the plastic cap is doing, i’ve sort of conquered the GHE method from the last time I blogged about it, and one noticeable difference is the shine in my hair! Never going back <3
yay!!! so today is the end of the Twist/Braid/Bun for Growth challenge and i must say i have seen a lot of growth on this challenge! Ive quite litterally gone from just barely reaching apl to bsl in like 3 months, which is ah mazing! This challenge has really made me become really militant on my hair journey, (though i did cheat for a couple of days when i straightened :3) and kept me really straight minded. Plus I noticed that I could actually let my hair be when its bunned or twisted which I really like. Its not a chore to wash or style anymore.
THINGS I’VE LEARNED FROM THE CHALLENGE!
1. I dont really know why but I notice my hair doesn’t really know what to do when its out in the open and not twisted or braided. It just knots up and gets really dry, even when applying oils and butters.
2. GHE (Green House Effect method/bagging) is my best friend.
3. stretching should never be an option, but always a must.
